Bridgeport Rotary

MAKING POSITIVE differences in the lives of individuals in need of assistance is something we should all attempt to do.

The Bridgeport Rotary Club takes notice of such notable contributions to society. In fact, the Rotarians recently honored two such good soldiers for their many worthwhile contributions to the village.

Earning special Rotarian recognition were Carol Grandstaff and Dan Young.

Grandstaff is involved with the Bridgeport Friendship Council's Food Pantry. Young, meanwhile, is associated with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Belmont County.

Both of the aforementioned organizations deliver vital services to their respective clientele.

Grandstaff helps oversee a food operation which serves hundreds of families monthly, and also provided Christmas baskets of food and toys to those in need of a little help over the holidays.

No one should go hungry, but in the Ohio Valley such is a painful reality. The Bridgeport Food Pantry is doing its part in a major way to ease same of that pain, serving nearly 400 families in 2012.

Grandstaff and her food pantry associates have obviously made the lives better for countless individuals.

The Rotarians selected Young based on his dedication to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, a group that helps brighten the futures of boys and girls in the Bridgeport area. Big Brothers and Big Sisters are positive role models.

In addition, Young helps champion the cause of Habitat for Humanity in Bellaire and the surrounding areas.

We commend Grandstaff and Young for their selfless and compassionate service to those in their community. We also pass out kudos to the Bridgeport Rotary Club for praising the work of those who do special deeds.
