TEDESCHI, Vincent J., Sr., 84, of 1814 Keheley Ct., Marietta, GA, formerly of Bellaire, died Sunday, January 27th in the "Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice Center."
Vince was born in Bellaire Hospital on January 14, 1929 to Sam Sr. and Lucy Tedeschi.
In 1949, after a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, Vince entered the Tri-State Art Institute in Wheeling, WV as a commercial art student. On February 4, 1950 he married Dorothy Donahue, his wife for the past 62 years. Together they raised six children, Tina Hughes (John), Marietta, GA, Susan Mc Pherson (John), Dale City, VA, Vince Tedeschi, Jr. (Misty), Canton, GA, Timothy Tedeschi (Marjorie DeLeo), Mt. Dora, FL, Camela Misencik, Canton, GA and Leslie Tedeschi, Marietta, GA.
Vince was first employed with Ohio Valley Advertising Co. in Wheeling, WV and in 1954 established his own sign company. His name was very familiar and his work recognizable to many traveling interstates in the tri-state area. He had lettered and painted everything from storewindows and buildings to water tanks and grain elevators. Many fondly referred to Vince as the "Mayor of Bellaire" because his name was nearly on every building in the town. Vince also owned and operated the very popular Bellaire Roller Skating Rink in the 1960's and early 1970's which was "the place" to be on the weekends. For many years he donated his time to paint the scenery for the popular SJC Follies at St. John Central High School. In 1984 Vince relocated to Atlanta, GA to work for Turner Outdoor Advertising. He also worked perfecting his technique in oil portraits and landscaping artistry. Beautiful artwork now overflows his studio which his family will always truly treasure.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sam Tedeschi, Jr.
In addition to his wife and children, Vince is survived by a brother, Patsy Tedeschi, of Bellaire and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
