ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Drug and burglary cases dominated Belmont County Common Pleas Court Friday. Judge John M. Solovan II presided.
Jessie Ryan Johnson, 25, 205 South Fifth St., Martins Ferry was sentenced on one count burglary, a felony of the third degree occurring Jan. 15, 2012 and one count receiving stolen property, a felony of the fourth degree.
He was given five years of community control sanctions. He will serve 120 days in jail, six months EOCC, and pay restitution totalling $400.
The victim related her experience of waking up to the sounds of a stranger in her home and chasing him out with a baseball bat. She described her ongoing emotional stress and the severe health problems that have arisen as a result.
"My safety has been shattered completely," she said.
Defense pointed out that Johnson has complied with law enforcement. He asked Solovan to consider the defendant's drug problem.
Solovan noted Johnson's need to accept responsibility and accountability and to take advantage of the programs offered by EOCC.
Richard Thomas Kyle, 26, 201 Church St., Bethesda, was terminated from drug court after admitting a violation. He will be sentenced March 29. An EOCC evaluation and pre-sentence investigation were ordered. He was convicted of misuse of credit cards, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Sept. 9, 2011.
Coury Michael Pyles, 25, 429 Annadale Ave., Moundsville, pleaded guilt to one count burglary, a felony of the fourth degree, and one count safecracking, a felony of the fourth degree, and one count theft, a felony of the fifth degree, occurring February of 2012. His sentence was set for April 12. A pre-sentence investigation and victim impact statement were ordered. He faces a maximum of four years.
Tyler Rae Snyder, 23, 205 Lake St., Bethesda, saw the termination of his probation after admitting to failure to report to his supervisor in 2011. He was given a sentence of three years with credit for 812 days. He was convicted of misuse of credit card, a felony of the third degree occurring July 1, 2008.
