CROOK, Lawrence D. "Toots" "Troph" Sr., 78, of Flushing formerly of Warwood died Thursday March 21, 2013 at Barnesville Hospital.
He was born August 1, 1934 in Wheeling, a son of the late Bryson and Freda (Smith) Crook.
He was retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #83 with 55 years of service, a Catholic by faith. He was an avid Steeler, Buckeye and Mountaineer, and Beast of the East fan. He coached Warwood Baseball and Softball Leagues for many years. He loved camping and was noted for his umpiring throughout the valley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Crook in 1979; and a brother, Ronald Crook.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Eleanor (Raber) Crook; sons, Lawrence D. Crook Jr. of Elm Grove, Keith Crook of St. Clairsville, and Kevin Crook of Cadiz; a daughter, JoEllen (Scott) Cowgill of Sarahsville, Ohio, 14 grandchildren; Heather, Becky, Mindy, Missy, Travis, Nina, Bryan, Katie, David, Jacki, Wes, Bryson, Luke, and Joel; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Crook Cash of Brookside; brothers, Calvin Crook of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Garen (Andrea) Crook of Windsor Hts.; a sister-in-law, Carol Crook of Lansing; an aunt, Zelda Tucker; and a uncle, Melvin Smith; several close nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Lawrence's life on Sunday March 24, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, where services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Fr. John Mucha officiating. Interment in Mt.Calvary Cemetery Wheeling.
