He was born February 22, 1918 in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late John M. Cozad and Pearl Smithson Cozad.
He was a retired union electrician of Local 683 I.B.E.W. of Columbus, Ohio. Roy proudly served his country in the Navy, during World War II. He was a reserve officer for Belmont County Sheriff's Office, a former Barnesville Police Officer, a school board member, and a park board member. He was a Squadron Commander for the U.S.A.F. Civil Air Patrol and a licensed aircraft pilot for 67 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 33rd degree Mason of Friendship Lodge #89, the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Ohio, Aladdin Shrine Temple of Columbus, Ohio, Aladdin Flying Nobles of Columbus, Ohio, and the F.O.P. of Belmont-Monroe County #6.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June; sisters, Catherine (Orville) Gordley and Sue Cozad; and brothers, Donald Cozad and Richard Cozad.
Roy is survived by his son, Roy Michael (Sharon) Cozad of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughters, Sue (Gary) Bowman of Sun City, Florida and Martee (Roy) Rogers of Springfield, Ohio, Pat (Keith) Phillips of Bethesda, Ohio, Nancy Cozad and Carol Cozad McConnell both of Barnesville, Ohio; special niece, Karen Williamson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great - great- grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to visit, Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., at Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral Home, 702 East Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio, where the service will be conducted, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Reverend Tom Detling will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.
A Masonic Service will be conducted, Tuesday at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
