GERDAU, James E. Jr. "Jimmy," 55, of Pleasant City, passed away, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center after a prolonged illness.
He was born May 23, 1957, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late James and Lillian (Ankrom) Gerdau.
Mr. Gerdau worked construction and for Ankrom Roofing in Zanesville before his sickness. He was protestant by faith and attended the Derwent Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed the outdoors, an avid fisherman with several Fish Ohio awards. He also loved to hunt for mushrooms, especially large morels in springtime. Fast cars, deer hunting, target shooting and refinishing guns were also favorites.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tina Gerdau; brother, William Gerdau; infant brother, Albert Reese Gerdau; his grandparents, Albert and Mildred (Messenger) Gerdau and Romeo and Alice (Cooper) Ankrom; and a nephew, Robert Craig Gerdau.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda Lynn Gerdau whom he married on September 3, 1988; daughter, Jamie Lynn Gerdau of the home; brother, Robert (Teri) Gerdau of Pierpont; two sisters, Pamela Marthaler of Bellaire and Kellie Gerdau of Bridge port; and a grandson, Liam James Gerdau also of the home.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Bundy-Law Funeral Home.
The service will be on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. Pastor Evan Greathouse will officiate the service with burial following in Buffalo Cemetery.
