ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Barnesville jumped out to the early lead but St. Clairsville would rally in the fourth inning running out to a 10-4 final tally Thursday afternoon.

Shamrock Lane Hanlon made the first installment of her 4 for 4 outing, notching a one-out double in the first. Becky Burkhart followed up with an RBI double and then scored on a sac fly by Hunter Weiss.

Barnesville's defense held the Red Devils scoreless until the third inning when Beanz Hummell and Michaela Miller both scored to knot the contest.

The next inning, the Rocks went in order but the lid was about to come off. Brianna Sowers reached on an error and MacKenzie Otto pushed her across with a double, Hummell singled and Miller plated Otto with her one-bagger. Lauren Figura reached on an error and then Krista Morrison cleared the bags with a double.

"We started off slow," St. Clairsville head coach Rachel Duncan said. "That rally really opened it up."

The five-run burst put the Shamrocks in a big hole but the Red Devils got another big shot in the fifth to put it out of reach. Figura and Morrison reached on walks, then Alicia Avila, who had popped out to first in her first three at bats, found the sweet spot, ripping a three-run homer over right center.

Hanlon moved one step from hitting for the cycle as she answered with a no doubt round-tripper over the left center field fence. The Shamrocks' big stick came up one bag shy as she settled for a RBI double in the top of the seventh to round out the scoring,

"You can not give a good hitting team like St. C extra outs in an inning," said Barnesville head coach Matt Johnson citing three errors, "We feel we are a good ball team when we remember our fundamentals."

St. Clairsville (6-4) travels to the I-470 complex today for a twi-night double header with Wheeling Park while Barnesville (5-5) hosts Linsly for a Saturday afternoon twin bill.
