Joan was born on German Ridge, Powhatan Point, OH, on May 1, 1934.
Joan fought a courageous battle for 11 months. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelbert and Lila Cook Isaly. She leaves behind her husband, Allen of 56 years of marriage, a daughter, Lois (Richard) Harrold of Wheeling, WV., a son, David (Sandra) Weigand of Bellaire, two granddaughters, Juliet Filter of Wheeling and Ashlina Weigand of Bellaire, a great-granddaughter, Athena Weigand of Bellaire, a brother, Lynn (Carol) Isaly of Gahanna, OH and several nieces and nephews Joan grew up on German Hill and always talked about her happy childhood. She attended Powhatan Point High School and after graduation found employment in Washington, DC. After returning to the area, she worked for Rodefer-Gleason and later Bellaire City Hospital. Joan was always smiling and loved being with friends and loved ones. Everyone who knew her came to love her and her wonderful personality. Joan grew up in St. John's United Church of Christ on German Hill but changed her membership to St. John's Evangelical and Reformed in Bellaire. For the past few years she renewed her membership at St. John's United Church of Christ on German Hill. Joan was a member of Captina Chapter 489 Order of the Eastern Star. She knew all the members of her church all her life and loved them all.
Allen and Joan were fortunate to have traveled a good deal in Europe and also Greece and the Holy Land. The family wishes to thank all those at Liza's Place for the loving care and comfort they gave Joan.
Friends will be received on Saturday April 27, 2013 from noon until time of her memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ on German Ridge Road Powhatan Point with Rev. Carla Wobschall officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Captina OES will hold a service at 1:15 p.m. in the church. Arrangements by Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, Bellaire.
