The Saints Club is preparing for its second annual Butch Soukup Memorial Golf Scramble. The event will be held at Belmont Hills Country Club on Sunday, May 5.
Last year's tournament was deemed a great success with 32 teams taking part in the event. There are high hopes that the entire field will be filled this year with 36 squads. Last year's tournament raised $3,000, which was donated directly to the St. Clairsville golf program. The tournament is a 4-man scramble with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Starbucks will be supplying coffee and pastries at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $65. per man and that includes beverages on the course, food at the turn and a chicken dinner after the event at Red Devil Stadium. Bill Kerschbaumer Allstate Financial is handling the $25,000 hole-in-one on the second hole.
Bob Sabo Insurance is sponsoring a $5,000 prize for a person making an 80-foot putt on the ninth green prior to the event starting.

The Wheeling Jesuit women's golf team completed another impressive week. The Lady Cardinals won the WVIAC Southern Regional Championship at Glade Springs Golf Resort. The Cardinals posted a two-day score of 660, which was 21 shots better than Seton Hill.
Former Harrison Central standout Juli Hirauk continued her fine play. She posted rounds of 83 and 86 for a 169 total, which was second best on her team.
Hirauk, for her efforts, was named to the WVIAC second team.
Wheeling Jesuit is currently ranked 10th in the East Regional.
WHEELING PARK GOLF CLUB
Bob Green prevailed in the medal division of the Patty Hoffman Memorial tournament on April 14 at Wheeling Park Golf Course. Green shot a 68 and won on a tiebreaker over Roger Kupfer. Larry Goodnight was third with a round of 72.
In the handicap division, Doug Miller prevailed with a score of 65. David Coram posted a 67, while former Martins Ferry golf coach Joe Kosar checked in with a round of 67 as well.
The Bellaire Sons of Italy is hosting its 14th annual golf scramble to benefit Alzheimers & Cooley's Anemia Charities on Monday, June 10. The event will be held at the Crispin Golf Course at Oglebay Park with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $200 for a four-man team. Cost includes golf, cart, refreshments on the course and dinner at the Haller Shelter following the round. The top three teams will receive prize money. The ninth annual Flushing Masonic Lodge Scholarship Scramble will be held on May 18 at Cadiz Country Club at 12:30 p.m.. The entry fee is $240 a team that covers golf, cart, prizes, lunch at the turn, beverages and a steak dinner following the round. The Amanda Rosepapa Memorial Benefit golf scramble, sponsored by the Glencoe American Legion Post 632, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course in Armstrong Mills. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and the entry fee is $200 per team. The price includes golf, cart, beverages, lunch and a steak fry after the round.
