Library ready for 75th anniversary event

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The St. Clairsville Public Library is gearing up for its 75th anniversary celebration, slated for Wednesday, May 1.

To commemorate this occasion, the library, located at 108 W. Main St., is hosting a "Celebrating 75 Years Anniversary Kick-Off."

May 1 is the day the library first opened in 1938. It's present location at 108 W. Main is not the library's original home. The current building began being used provided a wealth of written knowledge, literature and stories for children and adults city-wide in 1955.

There are numerous activities planned for Wednesday's celebration.

The kick-off begins from noon until 2 p.m. when free hot dogs, popcorn and lemonade will be provided as part of patron appreciation.

More activities will follow later in the evening.

Crafts and entertainment will be provided for both younger children and teens.

There will be a mini-performance by the Story-Time Children's Group.

There will be a cake decorating contest.

Mayor Bob Vincenzo will present a mayoral proclamation, declaring Wednesday "St. Clairsville Public Library Day."

There will also be a celebration birthday cake.

The evening events will take place between 6-7:30 p.m.

Library director Richelle Klug and Board of Trustees president Debbie Gordon will both speak to mark the occasion.
