May 2, 2013
Times Leader

TWO HARRISON County deputies were assaulted early this morning by a man operating an ATV outside Harrisville.

Sheriff Ronald J. Myers said the deputies initiated a traffic stop on the ATV on Miric's Ridge.

One of the deputies was then reportedly pushed by the man, which resulted in other units from Harrison County and Jefferson County to respond to the scene. Shortly after the second unit from Harrison County was on scene, the man was handcuffed and place into a cruiser.

The suspect is Eric Joseph Novak, 45, of Harrisville. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, and was arrested.

He faces charges of one count of assault of a police officer, open container, possession of drugs, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
