Barton debuts with 2-1 win

Defending Steele and Cook Insurance OVBL?champion Barton debuted in fine fashion Tuesday night in slipping past homestanding Lafferty, 2-1, in nine innings.

Ryan Kreiter's RBI single with two outs in the top of the ninth scored pinch-runner Mike Mukliewicz with the game-winner.

The Dodgers (0-2) scored first when Jordan Barbina crossed the plate on the back end of an attempted double steal in the bottom of the first inning.

The Braves (1-0) tied things in the third when Dustin Hynes plated Jourden Yager with a single to center. yager had singled and stole second.

Mackenzie Koehler made his Barton debut a good one as he scattered four hits. He struck out three and walked a pair.

Hynes and Joel Athkinson had two singles each.

Tyler McGary singled twice for Lafferty. Mark Smyth took the loss with seven Ks and a walk.

Barton hosts Warren Township tonight.

Maynard 9, Warren Township 2

At Tiltonsville, a trio of Maynard pitchers held the host River Pirates (1-1) to three hits at SouthWest Field.

Michael Androsko, D.J. Busby and Ryan Jarvie combined on the gem, with Androsko and Busby recording two strikeouts each.

Zak Kinnick singled and doubled to drive in two runs for the winners (2-0). Androsko had a 2-run single, while Busby also knocked in a pair with a single and double Corey Kotopka had two singles, as did Logan Hudson.

Neffs 13, Wheeling Yankees 4

At Neffs, the A's Gang (2-0) scored in every inning in a game called after six innings due to darkness.

Josh Nagel singled and tripled to drive in a run as Neffs recorded nine base hits. Brandon Leonard added a 2-run triple. Jon Nagel, Fred Owens and Steve Splenda all delivered 2-run singles.

Michael Roach picked up the win. He scattered five hits and struck out six.

Weirton 20, Marshall County 5

At Weirton, the Red Dons (1-0) pounded the visiting Monarchs (0-2) on Edwin J. Bowman Field.

Rudy Nagy and Eric Sperlazza evenly divided eight RBI.
