A CHEVY Cobalt ended up on its roof late Tuesday night after its driver, 25-year-old Nicole Marie Ball, 410 1/2 N. Seventh St., Martins Ferry, lost control while driving east on Hanover Street. She traveled off the left side of the road, striking the entrance sign to McDonald’s. The vehicle continued east, striking a wall and some fencing in front of the restaurant. It then rolled off the wall and rolled onto its top before striking a city street light. The light was knocked onto Hanover Street. Emergency personnel helped extricate the driver, who was transported to East Ohio Regional Hospital with unknown injuries. Hanover Street was closed in both directions for approximately one hour while crews removed the vehicle and cleaned up debris. According to a report from the Martins Ferry Police Department, Ball was cited for OVI, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to control. The vehicle was owned by Melanie Donahue.
