Times Leader

ON OCT. 26, 1971, Powhatan's 10-year-old plan for a new municipal building was realized today when ground was broken at a recently donated site near Main and Mellot Streets for the single-story structure, that will house village offices, fire and emergency equipment. The land was donated to the village by Dr. A. J. Antalis. On hand for the ceremony were from left: Don Buff, captain of the Powhatan Emergency Squad; Wilbert Perry, fire chief; James Hammond, member of Council; Inez Wright, council president; Stanley Everage, village clerk; Edward Shepherd, councilman; Contractor Harold Rathburn and Architect, S. Lou Hersberg. Boyd Nelson Photo. Submitted by Wilbert Perry
