A FAIRPOINT man is being treated at a Pittsburgh hospital after he suffered a gunshot wound and burns from his car that caught fire on Monday on Hess Sub Road in Fairpoint.
Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas said the man is in stable but serious condition.
Lucas said the incident remains under investigation.
However, deputies believe the man may have set his own car on fire and shot himself in a suicide attempt.
The man was first taken to the Ohio Valley Medical Center by the Cumberland Trail Emergency Squad and and then transported by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh.
The Cumberland Trail Fire Department and the Cumberland Trail Emergency Squad both responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
