CADIZ The Harrison City Schools Board of Education held its monthly meeting Thursday and bid farewell to Dr. George Ash, superintendent, at his final official board meeting. Ash is taking up a position as superintendent of the Jefferson County Educational Service Center.
His seat is being filled by Dana Snyder.
The board approved the resignation of Devvon Dettra, effective July 22, and Bryce Allen, effective July 2.

Board members approved T.T. Diloreto as cross country assistant and James Snodgrass for percussion.
Board approved Bill Bryant, jr high football; Anthony Hayes and Nick Miller, co-football freshman head coaches, Rachel Smith, OVLA Spanish; Stephanie McKinney, head teacher at Harrison East; Brian Gossett, golf reserve; Luke Turner, assistant athletic director; Jessica Scott, OVLA language arts; Paul Banks, cross country jr high.
Rachel Smith was employed as a Spanish teacher, K-12, and Larry Harding as a bus driver for No. 213 at 6.75 hours per day. Nicholas Miller, science teacher grades 4-9 at the jr/sr high school; Anthony Hayes, intervention specialist at the jr/sr high school; Sue Blawut, cook at Harrison East Elementary, three hours per day; Larry Harding, bus driver, three hours per day; Larry Harding, bus driver, eight hours per day; Elisabeth Salyers, bus driver, 6.75 hours per day; Sarah Wilden, business teacher at the jr/sr high school.
Board confirmed the assignment of staff members for the 2013-14 school year including Samantha McIntosh, Integrated studies 7-12; Gale Zook, bus driver No. 222, 7.5 hours per day; and Donna Ryder, cook, 5.5 hours per day. Also Tammy Starr, 21st Century, Harrison East Elementary.
Board approved substitute employees for the 2013-14 school year.
Board employed Justin Clifford as Dean of Students at Harrison Jr. Sr. High School effective Aug. 1 for two years. Board also employed Donald Madzia as the dean of students at Harrison East Elementary effective Aug. 1, for two years.
Board approved Bill Bryant and Lisa Ferrell as full time substitutes for Year 2013-14 at the junior/senior high school and Harrison East Elementary respectively.
Board approved personal leave of absences for Cynthia Twaddle beginning the start of the 2013-14 school year until release to return to work by the doctor.
Board approved volunteer supplemental coaches Ty Kenny, Ian White, Cody Kaiser and Brad Bryant, jr high football.
Additional duties of AM and PM site manager of the 21st Century Tutoring Program were assigned to Brent Ripley and Ken Parker for the 2013-14 school year.
A leave of absence was also approved for Rhonda Littleton beginning the start of the 2013-14 school year until released to return to work by doctor.
In business and operation, board approved the interagency agreement with Harcatus Head Start for the 2013-14 school year.
Board appointed Melvin Allen to serve as delegate and Philip Madzia to serve as alternate with power to vote to the OSBA Annual Business Meeting, conducted in conjunction with OSBA Capital Conference in November, held in Columbus.
Board authorized the establishment of a change fund account for the high school cafeteria for the 2013-14 school year for $125. The head cook is responsible for the fund.
Board approved an agreement with Trinity Health Systems for an athletic trainer service agreement for the 2013-14 school year.
Board also approved lunch prices for the 2013-14 school year. Grades pre-K are $2.75. Adult lunches are $3 and milk is 50 cents.
Board approved a contract with Jefferson County Educational Service Center for alternative school services for Fiscal Year 2014. Board also renewed the Fiscal Year 2014 Five Year Forecast Program License agreement with K-12 Business Consulting, Inc.
Board entered into a service agreement with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office for Resource Officers for the 2013-14 school year.
Board entered into a professional service agreement with Pisanick Partner, LLC for the 2013-14 school year.
Board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Harrison Hills Teachers Association on calamity days from July 1, 2013-June 30, 2015
In matters of students, board accepted applications for interdistrict students and intradistrict students and approved their attendance under the district's open enrollment program for the 2013-14 school year. Board also approved of the Harrison East and Harrison North 2013-14 handbooks.
Board approved a request to place the foreign exchange students who fall under approved programs in the schools for the 2013-14 school year.
Board also approved requests for use of facilities by Congressman Bill Johnson for a county town hall meeting at the district office Aug. 23, 5-7:30 p.m. Board also approved the use of Harrison North Elementary gymnasium Aug. 4, 16, and 17, 4-8 p.m. for the Jewett/Scio Alumni Band for practice.
A special meeting will be held this coming Tuesday at 6 p.m. to accept bids for an auction of items from the old bus garage.
