SAUNDERS, Genevieve Eleanor

SAUNDERS, Genevieve Eleanor, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Neffs, Ohio died July 30, 2013 in Arizona.

She was born November 20, 1919 in Warrenton, Ohio, daughter of the late Eugene Delmar Rutter and Mary Eliza Whiston Rutter.

Gene was a homemaker and known to many as "The Candy Lady", making and selling homemade candy in the valley with all proceeds being donated to her church. She was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle of Wheeling and the Pentecostals of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. "Otie" Saunders Sr.; a daughter, Mary Louise McMahon; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Webb Saunders; a grandson, Richard Allen "Rick" Saunders; a sister, Mary Ellen Kelley; and three brothers, Lee, Joe, and David Rutter.

Surviving are her daughter, with whom she resided for the past three years, Dr. Eleanor J. Monroe of Phoenix, Arizona; a son, Bill and Dot Saunders of West Bellaire, Ohio; a sister, Martha and Paul Volan of Martins Ferry, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Bernie McMahon, Corina and Salim Shaikh, Mark and Sylvia McMahon, Joe and Julie McMahon, Deanna Bass, Jimmy and Veronica McMahon, and Susie Tolliver McMahon; 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great- grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home at 141 South Marietta Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio, where memorial services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
