WOODSFIELD - The Switzerland of Ohio Local Board of Education selected former Noble Local School District Superintendent Dr. Daniel Doyle to be its interim superintendent during Thursday's meeting.
"Knowing the people in the district, of course I have some commitments and they indicated that this position would only be for two to four weeks, so it would be a short time," Doyle said. "I am definitely willing to help anyone out of a bad situation, and actually prior to going to Noble 12 years ago, they had gone several months without one and I honestly remember them saying how difficult that time period was on everybody."
In other business, Richard Lancaster, who serves as the River High School band president, approached the board about continuing having a band during football games.
"We have a great group of kids ... I don't want to give up on them," said Lancaster.
He also stated that for the last 11 years, the River High School Band Boosters have supported the band, including paying for sheet music, uniforms and transportation.
Switzerland of Ohio Local School District Board of Education President Ron Winkler announced the board's decision to deny Lancaster this request when they came out of executive session.
