You Better Believe What You See

August 19, 2013

YOU BETTER believe what you see ... Don't believe what you hear. As Temperatures soared in the Ohio Valley in Weirton, residents saw temperatures soar above 100 degrees for many days. This sign on a Weirton Bank (not sure of the year this was taken) stating that the temperatures were well above 100. Ohio Valley residents may remember these days of blistering heat sending persons to swimming pools, air-conditioned buildings and anywhere for relief. Area physicians recommended persons suffering from respiratory ailments should not go outside. These rules still apply today to recommend residents seek shelter during the Hot and Humid, "Dog Days of Summer." Submitted by Dick Johnson
