Farmers’ Market sets Souper Bowl

On Saturday, the Ohio Valley Farmers' Market will host its third annual Souper Bowl Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in Bellaire. The proceeds from the event will benefit local food pantries.

Anyone may enter the contest. All soups must be homemade by the entrant. Entries should consist of a minimum of 128 ounces of soup and must be at the market by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Winners will be chosen in four categories: Clear soups (Made with a broth for flavor such as chicken noodle, vegetable, bean, French onion, Italian wedding, etc.), Creamed soups (Made with milk or cream and with a thickener: tomato, broccoli, chicken, potato, mushroom, etc.), Chowders or Stew (Made with a seafood or meat: clam chowder, corn chowder, lobster bisque, beef stew, lamb stew, chicken stew, etc.), and Chili.

Winners will be chosen by the votes of customer 'tasters' who will donate a can of soup or one dollar for area food pantries. Come join the fun and help a worthy cause. The event will take place rain or shine.

Shoppers will find a bounty of seasonal, local produce as well as baked goods, farm and home-produced foods, crafts, flowers, dog treats and more.

The OVFM also operates on Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. at the Bel-Morr Market at I-70 exit 208 Morristown.

The Lil Farmers' Club will meet at 10 a.m.
