VELT, George Henry, 92, of Lake Mary, FL, formerly of Bellaire, OH, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in Lake Mary Health and Rehab Center, Lake Mary FL, after a four-month stay.
George was born February 23, 1921, in Bellaire, OH, a son of the late John and Immaculata DelVecchio Velt.
He attended St. John Grade School and was a 1941 graduate of Bellaire High School. He attended Wittenburg College where he was a member of the Football team.
He was drafted in May 1943 into the United States Army during WWII and Served in Europe until being honorably discharged in January of 1946.
After returning home, George utilized the G.I. Bill and enrolled in the The Ohio State University and graduated with a B.S. degree from the College of Pharmacy in 1952.
He worked as a Pharmacist in Columbus, Ohio until 1963, before moving his family to Hollywood, Florida where he retired from Super-X Drugs in 1986.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a son, Vincent Velt; four brothers, Daniel, John "Tarzan", William ,and Alfred Velt; and two sisters, Helen and Lena.
Surviving is a son, Victor Velt of North Branford, CT; a sister-in-law, Sally Velt of Va; five nephews and a niece.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Daniel Heusel officiating.
A luncheon will follow the service.
