CONNORVILLE - St. Clairsville dominated the Buckeye 8 Conference cheerleading competition Sunday as the Red Devils captured both the high school and junior high events at Buckeye Local High School.
Eight schools competed for the chance to win, as each school performed both dance and cheering routines.
While the St. Clairsville Red Devils took first place, the host Buckeye Local Panthers took second. The Martins Ferry Purple Riders came in third.

This is the fifth time that the Red Devils won the Buckeye 8 Cheering Competition in the six years that the competition has been held.
"I am very proud of them. It's always tough, you never know how it is going to go," said St. Clairsville Cheering Coach Shawn Tomlan. "You are always nervous for a competition, you never know how it is going to go."
According to Tomlan this is the first time that they have performed on mats.
"St. Clairsville cheerleaders are always very hard workers. They are dedicated, they love cheering I think it shows when they compete, they are very dedicated."
The St. Clairsville Junior High Cheerleaders won first place as well. Second place in the junior high division went to Buckeye Local and third place was claimed by the Indian Creek Red Skins.
