I am writing this letter to the residents of the Bridgeport School District requesting your continued support of my position on the Bridgeport Board of Education. For the past 50 years, education has been my life. I have worked in every phrase of the field of education from the early years of teaching and driving school to bus to administration in our district and currently as a Board Member.
My seven years on the Bridgeport Board have been productive for the district and I believe that I have had the opportunity to use by background for the betterment of the students and residents of our school district. Over the past seven years, we have developed an outstanding pre-school addition and program along with a reading program that is showing educational results each and every year.
Our technology program is second to none and our staff has been recognized "Internationally" for their endeavors within our school district. We have developed a staff that is truly concerned about the future of the children of our district.
In keeping with a quality educational system, we have also gone on record to keep our facilities updated and improved which is evidenced by the following:
New softball field for our girls program, new lighting and repairs at Perkins Field, renovation of the Niekro Diamond, major repairs to the field house and a major refinishing to our gymnasium. Our bus fleet is up-to-date and we have continued to improve our curriculum with new textbooks when and where needed.
As a board member, I promise to continue to work with the staff, students and residents of our district to keep Bridgeport, "The best kept secret in the Ohio Valley." we have turned the tide on the problems with "open enrollment" thanks to the efforts of our administration.
I ask that you continue to support a program that is working for the interests of the students in our school district.
Roger W. Stewart
