A Belmont County man indicted by a grand jury was arraigned on charges today that he killed a toddler in Bellaire.
Ian Jarrell entered not guilty pleas to two counts of murder and endangering a child. Police said Jarrell abused and suffocated 2-year-old Carter Caprita. On Oct. 1, emergency responders were called to the Francis Wallace Apartments for a report of a child who was not breathing.
Crews found Caprita and took him to a hospital, but the child later died. Jarrell was dating the child's mother, Allisha Alltop, and Jarrell was babysitting at the time.
The trial is set to start Dec. 17.
