ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Belmont County Board of Elections held a recount Monday for the Pultney Township trustee race and the Barnesville Exempted Local School Board of Education contest.

The recount was held between Scott Porter and Jim Tekely in Pultney Township while the Barnesville recount was between Scott Baker and Nancy Carnes.

According to William Shubat, director of the board of elections, there was a four vote count difference between the two. He went on to say that by law anyone who wins within one half of one percent, must have an automatic recount.

After the recount was completed on Monday afternoon the results were as follows: Pultney Township, Porter had 978 votes and Tekely had 974 votes. As a result, Porter will be the Pultney Township trustee.

In the Barnesville BOE race, Baker recieved 647 votes and Carnes received 642 votes. Baker will now be on the Barnesville Board of Education.
