Judge Fregiato hears several pleas

ST. CLAIRSVILLE Numerous pleas were heard and sentences carried out during Monday's session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court Judge Frank Fregiato presided.

Garry Wayne Fields, 42, 65201 South Moss Road, Bellaire, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, a felony of the fourth degree occurring May 11, 2013. The court noted this was the sixth offense in 20 years, which determined the degree of felony. Sentence was set for Dec. 23. A pre-sentence investigation and EOCC evaluation were ordered.

Robert K. Grimmett, 52, 413 Bennett St., Bridgeport, pleaded guilty to complicity, a felony of the fourth degree occurring March 13, 2013. Sentence was set for Dec. 23. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Grimmett was the owner of Bob's Cheap Smokes, which was declared a public nuisance after selling synthetic marijuana. He had been indicted for aiding in the trafficking of drugs.

Pete Michael Harlan, 22, incarcerated, admitted to a violation of his probation and will serve the remaining four months of his sentence in jail. He was originally convicted of burglary, occurring June 9, 2011.

William Paul McKinney, 48, 72595 Flushing-Holloway Road, Flushing, admitted to a violation of his probation. He was given a sentence of six months in jail, with credit for time served for a total of four months. He was charged but not convicted of possession of weapons while under disability, a felony of the third degree occurring May 29, 2011.

Tanner David Meek, 21, 63087 Toad Hollow Road, Bellaire, was sentenced for possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Sept. 25, 2013. He was given a sentence of 12 months in the penitentiary, partially concurrent with a sentence he is already serving. Fregiato noted this will add two months to his current sentence.

Roger A. Runner, 47, 507 Clinton St., Martins Ferry, appeared in court. He is charged with illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs, a felony of the third degree occurring June 6, 2013. He was given a deadline of Monday at noon to reach a plea agreement before the trial date of Dec. 5.

Cody West Williams, 22, 71868 Gas Station Shippy Road, St. Clairsville, pleaded guilty to property related crimes, occurring May 14, 2013. His sentence was set for Jan. 6. A pre-sentence investigation and victim impact statement were ordered. Williams had been accused of three counts of theft and one count receiving stolen property.

David A. Kurucz, 25, 67560 Warnock Road, St. Clairsville, pleaded guilty to three counts possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Aug. 12, 2013. Sentence was set for Jan. 6. Pre-sentence investigation and EOCC evaluations were ordered. He faces a maximum of 36 months.

Cody Wayne Agler, 19, 64670 Bel-Capre Apartments, Bellaire, pleaded guilty to burglary, a felony of the fourth degree occurring July 31, 2013. Sentence was set for Jan. 6. A pre-sentence investigation and victim impact statement were ordered.

A warrant was issued for Luke Aaron Kovalyk, 25, 64778 Sand Hill Road, Bellaire.
