The River girls basketball team received another huge outing from sophomore Jensen Caretti and had no trouble in posting its third straight victory to start the season, 49-25, Saturday afternoon in Hannibal.
Caretti fired in a game-high 28 points and snagged 17 rebounds as she simply proved to be too much for the Lady Cougars. Devyn Potts added nine points in top support.
The Lady Pilots, who outscored Frontier, 28-5 in the middle two chapters, return to action Wednesday at St. Clairsville.
Harrison Central wins, 58-42
Harrison Central opened its season in impressive fashion, cruising to a 58-42 victory over invading River View Saturday evening in Cadiz.
The Huskies shot out to a 14-10 lead after one and then proceeded to outscore River View, 29-16, in the middle two chapters.
Harrison Central was led by junior guard Austin Kowalski's 25 points. Nate Olmstead knocked home three triples en route to nine points.
River edges Frontier
Homestanding River used a furious fourth quarter rally in which it outscored Frontier, 17-9, to post its first victory and complete the evening sweep against the Cougars.
River led 16-8 after one, but was outscored 16-8 in the second, but posted 31 second-half points.
River was led by Eric Dierkes' 16 points. Ryan Indermuhle added 12 points and Jared Ramsier netted 11.
