GLADDEN, Robert Earl “Earl”

GLADDEN, Robert Earl "Earl", 85, of Port St. Lucie, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the St. Lucie Medical Center.

Earl was born July 3, 1928 in Bethesda, OH, to Robert Virgil and Mabel (Scatterday) Gladden.

He had been a life long resident of Ohio, and a seasonal resident of Port St. Lucie for 28 years.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a second generation Postal Clerk and Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 34 years in St. Clairsville, OH.

He enjoyed hunting, bowling and was an avid billiards player.

Earl attended the Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church in St. Clairsville, OH, and was a former choir member of the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Virgil and Mabel Gladden; step-mother, Violet Ennis Gladden Nethers; brother, Roger Gladden; sister, Mary A. Wilson.

Earl was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred (nee Raicevich) Gladden; daughters, Dr. Mary Ann Gladden of Morehead, KY; Dr. Erla Gladden Mowbray (Dr. John) of Alpharetta, GA and Marcia Gladden Lucas (Kevin) of Bethesda, OH; grandchildren, Dr. John Gladden Mowbray (Dr. Erin) of Milton, GA; Adam A. Mowbray (Dr. Amy) of Dunwoody, GA; David J. Mowbray (Tiffany) of Roswell, GA; K. Jason Lucas, J.D. (Carrie) of Bethesda, OH and Bethany Lucas Cooley (Nate) of Upper Arlington, OH; eight great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter that is due in May 2014.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. at the Spanish Lakes 1 Clubhouse in Port St. Lucie. A private family Celebration of Life service will be held in Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Yates Funeral home and Crematory in Port St. Lucie.
