MOUNDSVILLE - When Tammie Weyer of Tammies Groom Room in Moundsville first opened her grooming business, she only had one month's rent, a gallon of shampoo and her tools to get started.
Today, Weyer sees more than 800 clients that loyally come to the shop, located in the back of the former Elby's Plaza in Moundsville, to get their pooches groomed by a friendly staff in a calm atmosphere.
"I'd never take my dogs anywhere else," Moundsville resident Charlotte Hawk said when dropping off her dog. "Their friendliness and the way they act toward the dogs - They treat them like their own. It's great customer service."
The Groom Room features several new updates including new lights, a new ceiling and an updated heater and electric. Weyer said more renovations will be completed in the future including a fresh coat of paint of the interior of the shop.
Before coming to Marshall County three years ago, Weyer worked as a groomer in the Pittsburgh area and received several awards for excellence in grooming. She has been working as a certified groomer for almost 30 years.
As part of their efforts to give back to the community, the Groom Room will be holding a "Hott Dogs' for Hines Doggie Spa Day" from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 2, where the public can bring in their dogs for a relaxing "spa day." All proceeds will go to Wheeling resident Hines David Rotriga, a two-year-old battling stage IV neuroblastoma.
Dogs at Tammies Groom Room receive full services each visit including a shampoo and conditioning, nail clips, ear cleaning, drying and a brush. Customers can also request a specific cut or clip.
All customers must have updated records of their pet's shots. Customers are accepted by appointment by calling 304-559-2192.
