ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Gulla's Hot Dog opened for business in Bellaire 85 years ago. The popular eatery has been an All-American Town mainstay ever since.
The Gulla family has decided its time to wrap up their delicious dogs and head west. Gulla's opened a diner in St. Clairsville on Feb. 15 with an outpouring of clientele. Gulla's sold 1,200 dogs in their Hilltop debut and business has not waned since.
Located on Main Street across from the Belmont County Courthouse, Gulla's offers an ideal lunch spot or after-work meal. Gulla's is currently operating on a limited menu in St. C., but that will be fully expanded in the near future.

Duane Gulla credits his family's passionate work through the generations for the success of the hot dog establishment.
"We have good and inexpensive food and the hot dog is a great hot dog, " Gulla said. "We've been selling them for 85 years and customers keep coming back. So we are doing something right."
The restaurant was started by Duane's grandfather in 1929. Duane's son, Paul Michael, is managing the St. Clairsville location. It is currently open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While famous for its hot dogs, Gulla's offers a diverse and appetizing menu.
"It has gone great for the past two weeks. The crowds have been super and patient. Right now we are operating on limited hours and a limited menu," said Paul Michael Gulla. "But by mid-March we should be in full operation.
"We want to following my grandfather's footsteps. He always treated everyone very well," he added. "He had great relationships with everyone. We want to be the same way. I think our customers will keep coming back with proper treatment and serving quality food at a reasonable price."
The St. Clairsville Gulla's featured several big screen televisions and comfortable seating for 50-60. It employs between 10-12 workers.
St. Clairsville is a venue the Gulla family has been desiring for a good while.
"We have wanted to open a place out here (St. C.) for many years," Paul Michael said. "We were approached about four months ago about this location opening up. Things fell into place very nicely."
Later this month, St. C. Gulla's will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 740-296-5985.
