I've been seeing more and more articles about heroin abuse and prevention in the paper nowadays, and its absolutely heartbreaking. Its been reported how the heroin epidemic is getting worse, as a former heroin addict myself, you have no idea how true this is. I was a heroin addict for many years, and I've been clean now for almost a year. I've seen the damage it can do to families, the community, and the user firsthand. I've witnessed many friends lose their battle and their lives to their addiction. It infuriates me the amount of people from the big cities such as Cleveland, Philadelphia, etc coming to our little towns to take advantage of the people needing the drugs so desperately that they can make top dollar selling their garbage down here. Please, if you're reading this, and using heroin, get help! Do it while you still can! Don't wait until its too late. If you think you can try it 'just once' and not get hooked, you're dead wrong. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. My grandfather's a preacher, I come from a good family that never touched a drug. Its waiting to get its claws into you, don't let it get the chance. It will drag you to Hell if given the chance, and trust me, its hard to get back! I'm so thankful and happy I have my life back! I'm so thankful my family never gave up on me. With their continued support, I will beat this! I will stay clean!
