BELLAIRE - The Bellaire Area Chamber of Commerce is continuing to hold ribbon-cuttings to welcome businesses that have opened recently in Bellaire. Ohio Valley Lending, while not a new business, moved to a new location last September.
Previously located at 319 Crescent St., Ohio Valley Lending now calls 3048 Belmont St. home. Business owner Jeff Thrash explained that the new building is larger, something that was needed to house a backlog of files.
Ohio Valley Lending, which was started in 2001, offers a number of services including loans, payday loans, check cashing, money orders and bill pay. There are also notaries on staff. In the future, Thrash plans to add money consulting.

On Monday, Thrash and his employees Darlene Hercules, Lori Fox and Stacey Campbell were joined by Chamber of Commerce President Lou Ann Bennett, Laura Cramblet from the Bellaire Public Library, Pam Niles from Friends of the Library and Doug Potts from the Bellaire Senior Center for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Bennett offered thanks to Thrash for choosing to remain in Bellaire, and for being a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Ohio Valley Lending also has locations in Martins Ferry and Steubenville. Additionally, Thrash is the owner of Sun Video and Tanning, which has locations in the same two cities. Sun Video and Tanning of St. Clairsville is owned by Thrash's son.
Thrash said he cannot recall exactly how Ohio Valley Lending got started. He does know the idea came from suggestions that he add money services to Sun Video.
Office Manager Hercules noted that there are far fewer money lending services in Bellaire than when the business got started.
Ohio Valley Lending is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (740) 671-9020 to learn more.
