Ferry-Shadyside Football Jamboree
Martins Ferry vs Shadyside Football Jamboree on Thursday, starting at 530-6:35 with the 7th\8th grade teams. The varsity teams square off at 7:15, with the reserves set to go at 8.
Both bands will also perform.
The cost is $5 - no passes of any kind will be accepted.
OUE Volleyball Holding Celebrity Server
The Ohio University Eastern volleyball team will be at Undo's on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. for celebrity server night and encourages the public to come out and meet the team. Martins Ferry Football Parents to Meet
The next meeting of the Martins Ferry Football Parents will be on Tuesday, Aug. 26 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center.
Donations for the upcoming Gun Bash can be turned in at this meeting.
Parents of all players in grades 7 through 12 are invited and encouraged to attend.
Martins Ferry Football Parents Gun Bash
The Martins Ferry Football Parents are hosting a Gun Bash fundraiser on Saturday, Sept, 6 at the Rec Center.
Doors open at 4 p.m., raffles begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6.
Tickets are $50 each and includes dinner, beverages and chance to win a prize raffled every 15 minutes. On-site NICS checks must be passed to receive guns. Winners do not need to be present.

Bellaire High Meet the Teams
Come celebrate the start of the 2013-14 school year with a pep rally to show support and meet the golf, cross country, volleyball and football teams, along with the cheerleaders and band members on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Nelson Field. Refreshments will be available, along with booths selling season tickets and Big Reds spirit items. Prizes will be given away throughout the night. In case of rain, the event will be held in the high school auditorium, with booths in the gym.
Detling Memorial 5K Slated
The 4th Annual Brad Detling Memorial Ridge Runner Classic (BDMRRC) 5K Walk/Run, sponsored by Wayne Homes, South Central Power Company, and William Knox, CPA, will be held on Saturday at Barnesville High School.
The race begins at Barnesville High School at 8:30 a.m. The route includes Shamrock Drive and Grange Hall Road and ends at Barnesville Middle School. Downloadable registration forms are available at www.theracedeal.com. Race day registration is from 7-8 a.m. at the Barnesville High School gymnasium.
In addition to the 5K run, The BDMRRC is unique in that it features two classifications of walkers, competitive and non-competitive. Those who walk competitively complete the 5K race course and are eligible to win awards. Those who are in the non-competitive category may walk as little or as much of the course as they wish (or walk on the high school track) and are ineligible for awards. All pre-registrants are guaranteed a one of a kind race shirt. A limited number of t-shirts will be available for those registering late or registering on race day. Door prizes, refreshments, and DJ entertainment will also be available.

St. C. Youth Football Signups
The St. Clairsville Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for its youth flag football league for boys and girls in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. The cost is $45 (resident) or $80 (family) and $50 (non-resident) and $90 (family). Registrations end Sept. 3 at 3 p.m. at the recreation center.
All games will be played on saturdays, Sundays or Mondays, beginning Saturday, Sept. 20 and will conclude the end of October. Rain dates will be determined accordingly with times to be announced. There will be no refunds given for any reason(s). Some week-day games may be played depending on the amount of teams and rain dates.
Anyone interested in coaching, please contact the recreation center. For the protection of our children, all volunteer coaches will have background checks done before coaching. Social security numbers must be provided so that a background check can be run. Background check must be approved in order to coach, prior to the first practice. Absolutely no more than two coaches per team. A coaches only meeting will be held before play starts.

Steubenville Girls Basketball Fall League 2014
The Steubenville Girls' basketball Fall League will be held at Steubenville High School's Crimson Center & Stern Gym on Sundays from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19. There will be two divisions: Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School (grades 9-12).
Only two players from the same school will be allowed on the same team (OHSAA rules). The goal is to have each girl play in two games every Sunday. Teams may change on a weekly basis.

Purple Rider Boosters Planning Bus to Wickliffe
The Purple Riders Booster Club is sponsoring a fan bus to Wickliffe for the Purple Riders' second football game of the season. The cost is $45 for adults and $40 for students (14-and-under). The cost includes transportation, game ticket and a stop for dinner, which is included in the cost. The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The bus will leave at 2 p.m. from the Dutch Henry on Hanover Street. Bellaire Football Moms Steak Fry
The Bellaire Football Moms annual steak fry will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Bellaire Eagles from 5-9 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and it includes steak, baked potato, salad, bread and dessert. Please bring your own place settings and drinks will be available for purchase through the Bellaire Eagles. There will be a 50-50 raffle and various other raffles.
Awesome Autism 5K Run/Walk
The sixth annual Awesome Autism 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 8:30 a.m. at the Bellaire High School. Pre- registration is $20 and $25 on race day. Registration is from 7-8:15 p.m. The Awesome Autism 5K is part of the Ohio Valley Grand Prix Series. Sweatshirts and sizes are guaranteed to the first 250 registered. There will be post-race pasta, fruit, cookies and door prizes. As an added feature the Runner's Connection in Bellaire will pay your entry fee if you purchase any regular priced running shoe up until Aug. 23. Awards in age groups for both run and walk. All proceeds benefit PACE (Parents for Autism Community Education) and all monies stay local to help in educating those who want to learn about autism. Ferry Slates Flag Football Signups
The Martins Ferry Park District will have flag football signups for grades 1-6, through Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Martins Ferry Recreation Center.

WAHA Celebrating 50th Anniversary
WAHA, the Wheeling Amateur Hockey Association is celebrating its 50th anniversary (1964-2014).
The celebration is set for Saturday from 6-10 p.m., and will be held at the Wheeling Park, White Palace.
You are cordially invited to attend and take part in the festivities. Re-connect with your past hockey coaches and team mates. The evening will consist of a cocktail hour, dinner, music, and a short program. Look forward to seeing our past presidents, board members, commissioners, coaches and players along with their spouses. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Irish Youth Steak Fest Slated
The sixth annual Irish Youth Steak Fest will be held on Saturday at the Irish Youth Sports Complex. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 6-8 with live entertainment from 7-10. The dinner includes: steak, baked potato, salad, bread, dessert, water and pop. Those attending are asked to bring your place settings. There will also be games, raffles and the entertainment will be provided by Taylor Porter and Verdict. The Ohio Valley Football Coaches Association is in the process of accepting applications for nominations for retired assistant football coaches with 25 years of service, with at least 15 of those in the OVAC. The recommendations, may be sent to either Reno Saccoccia, Dave Bruney or Mike Young. We would be inducting these coaches into the hall next winter.
