BRIDGEPORT — The owners of Back Deck Grill are planning to convert the former restaurant into a bakery and ice cream parlor.

“Baking is not just our profession, it’s our passion. We can’t wait to share our love for baking with all of you,” the owners posted on the Back Deck Grill Facebook page.

According to a Facebook post, the owners plan to open the new business at the end of the month, and they will start serving ice cream in early spring.

“We just wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our amazing customers and dedicated employees for their unwavering support. We couldn’t have done it without you. We are absolutely thrilled to embark on this exciting new journey and bring a delightful bakery experience to Colerain and its surrounding areas,” the owners posted.

The owners said that the ice cream will be made with the Walker’s Homemade Ice Cream recipe.

“We are beyond excited to announce that we will be kicking off the 100-year anniversary celebration of the legendary Walker’s Homemade Ice Cream. As a fifth-generation Walker, this holds a special place in our hearts,” they posted

The bakery will feature a coffee bar, baked items and a limited lunch menu with soups, pepperoni rolls, meat and cheese trays and more. The bakery will also have a private area, formerly the back bar, that will be available by reservation only for parties and special events.

“This way, we can provide you with the utmost attention and personalized service that you deserve,” the owners posted.

The owners state that they still have their liquor license and can serve alcohol during parties and events.

“Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible support. We can’t wait to serve you and create lasting memories together. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with love, laughter and lots of sweet treats,” they posted.

The owners closed the Back Deck Grill on Dec. 30 with the hopes of making a new start. Follow Back Deck Grill on Facebook for more information.
