BELMONT — Thursday night kicked off the finale of Pike Idol, where three women competed for the title of Pike Idol 2024.

Judges crowned Lynsey Brooks as the winner of the Pike Idol singing competition.

“So much of performing is about having the courage and confidence to get out on stage and be yourself,” said Chris Dutton, creator of Pike Idol. “There’s a lot of talent in the Ohio Valley, and there’s also such a need for live entertainment. We’ve seen local acts use Pike Idol as a springboard, and we could see her doing the same.”

Pike Idol is a summer-long karaoke competition that began in 2018. This year’s competition started in June. It averages around 20 contestants in the beginning, with weekly eliminations throughout.

Prizes were given to first, second and third places. This year, third place went to Meghan Ross, and second place went to Megan Covington.

“The final contestants practice so much and put so much energy into the final night,” Dutton said. “It’s felt throughout the crowd. And we also brought back a lot of past performers to add to the experience of the finale. You have to close out summer with a band, and everyone crushed it.”

Judges for the competition were John Rataiczak of Wesbanco in Barnesville, Voice of the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, Blame My Roots Fest and Dutton Ranch Night, Amy Latham of State Farm and state-winning cheerleading coach for Union Local and Dino Giavonnone of Atomic Cowboy Productions and past member of “The Toys” and international touring artists with CBS Records.

With guest judges added randomly throughout the competition, each judge voted on contestants’ performance, outfit and showmanship.

Taylore Frasnelly, a past Pike Idol finalist, hosted the competition and gave a performance of her own every Thursday night.

Steve Clegg also attended the event as the DJ.
