Ferry spellers head to county bee

Photo Provided Martins Ferry City Schools held its spelling bee on Monday, Nov. 25. The champion was sixth grade student Mason Hines. Fifth grader, Avery Aiken, came in second place. Both advance on to the Belmont County Spelling Bee in February. Both advance to the 2024-25 Belmont County Spelling Bee, scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the ECO Center on the campus of Ohio University Eastern, St. Clairsville. The county bee is sponsored by The Times Leader, Belmont Savings Bank, Wilson Furniture, Wilson Funeral Homes, LED Transportations, Uniglobe Ohio Valley Travel, East Central Ohio Educational Service Center and the Martins Ferry Elks.
