Be Spa officially opens location inside Waterfront Hall in Wheeling
WHEELING — Be Spa held its official grand opening on Wednesday in a cozy new space on the second floor of Waterfront Hall in Wheeling.
Representatives of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, city officials and other local dignitaries helped celebrate the opening of Be Spa’s new location with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday. The spa at Waterfront Hall is the first Be Spa location to open outside of the main business location in Weirton, and with momentum behind the growing local business, it promises not to be the last expansion in the region.
“Our main spa in Weirton is 8,000 square feet,” owner Jeannie Burkhead said. “It’s huge. We have a yoga and fitness studio and everything there. We have 30 employees altogether, and most of them bounce back and forth between Weirton and Wheeling.”
Burkhead, of Steubenville, is a veteran stylist, barber, cosmetology instructor and salon owner who had been looking to open a new location in the Friendly City. Her husband, Brad, heads Cattrell Companies, which spearheaded the renovation of the historic three-story structure at 1230 Water Street when Dan Milleson brought a vision to life by transforming the former Berry Supply Building into Waterfront Hall through the pandemic.
During the renovation, Burkhead got a chance to see the space and speak with Milleson about the possibilities the venue had to offer.
“Just hearing Dan and his vision, it was amazing,” she said. “I just fell right in. This is the perfect space for us to be in. We love Waterfront Hall.”
Be Spa held somewhat of a soft opening before this week’s official grand opening. In fact, Waterfront Hall had been closed from the beginning of the year up until Wednesday for a special occasion — the entire building had been rented out for a wedding, and the team at Be Spa worked their magic right on site to help make it an unforgettable experience.
“We love doing weddings and taking care of the wedding parties,” Burkhead said. “When I opened Be Spa, I wanted it to be a one-stop shop — to have everything from barbering and hair cuts to everything hair and spa. We specialize in skin care, body work and all of that as well — everything beauty. So we do all spa services, we do medspa services and massages — kind of just bringing it all together. We do everything.”
From facials to lash lifts, manicures and pedicures, perms and hair colors, head spas and body wraps, haircuts and much more, Be Spa has it.
“This is our official opening now, so we’re cruising,” said Burkhead, who already has been busy working on her next big business ventures. “This is our second Be Spa location. Our next one is going to be in Pittsburgh, and I’m opening a cosmetology school in Weirton next month.”
Anyone interested in the services offered at Be Spa at Waterfront Hall is encouraged to check it out. Be Spa in Wheeling is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
“We’re here to serve our clients,” Burkhead said. “That’s our main goal — we go above and beyond for customer service.”
