Two arrested in alleged mall shoplifting attempt
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Belmont County sheriff’s deputies arrested two individuals from Toledo, Ohio, for allegedly shoplifting at the Ohio Valley Mall.
According to a news release from law enforcement, 25-year-old Kiara Bannister and 27-year-old Darquell Richardson were arrested and charged at about 2 p.m. Wednesday. Following an investigation, deputies believe the two individuals may be responsible for several other thefts in the Ohio Valley.
Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said he believes the two individuals are professional criminals who have been committing similar crimes throughout the state of Ohio.
“They look like professionals, like they do this all of the time,” he said.
The sheriff’s office was tipped off by Ohio Valley Mall employees who believed they had seen the individuals stealing from Ulta Beauty and Victoria’s Secret.
“We’re just letting people know to be on the lookout,” Zusack said.
Before their arrests, Zusack said the two individuals were driving a maroon 2014 Buick Lacrosse with Ohio license plate numbers that read FAMLOY2. Both Bannister and Richardson were released on bond after being charged Wednesday.
The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that asks residents who may have any more information regarding the two individuals to call 740-695-7933.
