Joseph Peter Stemkowski, Jr., 79, of Adena, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Sienna Hills Nursing Home. He was born October 29, 1945 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of Joseph Peter and Betty June Paul Stemkowski, Sr.

P.Joe was a farmer through and through. He spent almost his entire life working alongside his father on the family dairy farm just outside St. Clairsville. Having never been married, he enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Tony and Joe, who spent summers on the farm during their childhoods. He also enjoyed attending St. Clairsville High School class reunions. He was a proud graduate of 1964. P.Joe loved a good comedy and enjoyed watching funny movies like Beverly Hills Cop and Christmas Vacation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Maziek; a nephew, Joseph C. Maziek.

Surviving are sisters, Betty Ann (Russell) Banfield and Frances P. Hartman; nephews, David and Tony; a niece, Janel; two great-nieces, Cameron and Rylie; and a great-great niece, Lila June.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with a Vigil Service at 7:45 pm.

Visitation from 10 am until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 am on Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church, Bellaire with Fr. Daniel Heusel as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire.
