FLUSHING — A man died in a vehicle crash near Flushing over the weekend.

At about 2:10 a.m. Sunday, a crash occurred on Ohio 149 in the village of Flushing, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Michael Barto, 71, of Flushing was operating a 2023 Kia Sportage eastbound on Ohio 149. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking two parked vehicles on the north edge of Ohio 149. Both parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The patrol said Barto was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash remained under investigation on Monday.

Assisting on scene were Flushing EMS and Fire Department, the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, the Belmont County coroner and Braden’s A1 Towing.
