At 5:03 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to Ogilbee Road in Jacobsburg where a caller reported that a neighbor was shooting. The male left in a vehicle, and deputies could not locate it, according to the report. A female reportedly was involved in a domestic with the male. She stated that she was safe. No casings were found at the scene.
At 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to Patterson Hill Road for a report of a domestic situation at Belle Village Apartments. Police units were also on the scene, and one male was detained. A female involved said nothing physical happened and no threats were made. Both parties were separated for the night, and a deputy transported the male to a residence in Wheeling to stay.
At 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Denham Road in St. Clairsville reported there was something tall standing outside of his camper. A sergeant attempted to contact him but was not able to do so. The call was listed as a mental issue.
At 9:44 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported that he was following his father who was going to do harm to a male that had been sleeping with his wife. A deputy performed a traffic stop on his vehicle on Bannock Road in St. Clairsville. James Richard Eberhard was booked into the Belmont County Jail on charges of attempted murder, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, inducing panic and driving under the influence.
At 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Interstate 70 eastbound near milepost 224 in Bridgeport issued verbal warnings to both a Georgia driver and an Ohio driver for speeding.
At 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, a caller on West Main Street in Holloway reported that their neighbor was playing Christmas music very loudly. A sergeant responded and spoke with a male who said that he plays the music to keep the foxes away from his chickens. The music was turned off, and the officer cleared the scene.
At 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Woods Road in Bridgeport reported that he had video footage of a suspicious vehicle on the roadway near his residence. A deputy responded. The caller said the vehicle went up and down the road and stopped at the end of his driveway. The caller requested extra patrols.
At 6:36 p.m. Wednesday, a female from Clark Road in St. Clairsville reported issues she was having with her husband after she served him with divorce papers. A written statement was obtained.
At 6:22 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported that she had not seen her next — door neighbor at an address on Maynard Road in St. Clairsville. Deputies performed a welfare check and found the male deceased. The coroner was notified, and a funeral home responded to the scene.
At 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol requested a check on a Sandbox truck losing sand on Interstate 70 westbound near exit 208 in Union Township. A deputy responded but did not locate the vehicle.
At 2:49 p.m. Wednesday, an anonymous caller reported that a male and female were fighting and screaming at an address on Greenbank Avenue in Lansing. The couple was yelling outside, and the male would not let the female inside the residence. Both the male and female were detained.
At 1:49 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Reco Road in Belmont reported that a female who was fired from the workplace was suicidal. Deputies responded and calmed her down. The female left with her parents, according to the report.
At 1:08 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were out assisting Bellaire police with someone who was resisting arrest on Noble Street in front of the Dairy Queen.
At 12:39 p.m. Wednesday, a caller advised there was a suspicious vehicle parked near Lynn Hunkler Park on Main Street in Morristown with a male and female inside. The male appeared to be on a computer. The vehicle left before officers arrived.
At 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Jefferson Street at Noble Street in Bellaire issued a citation to a motorist for driving under suspension. The driver was detained and then released. A passenger was allowed to drive.
At 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to Havenwood Drive in Morristown, where the fire department was on the scene of an illegal burn. Information was taken and was to be passed on to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and possibly the state fire marshal’s office.

Monday, March 17
1:54 a.m. — Officers made a traffic stop on Ohio 7 near Hanover Street for a vehicle defect. The officers identified the driver and found him to be valid. He was given a warning for the vehicle defect. Officers cleared.
3:06 a.m. — Officers assisted Bridgeport units on a traffic stop on Hanover Street.
7:33 a.m. — A male came on station to speak with an officer about his granddaughter being assaulted. A statement was obtained, and all parties were identified. Belmont County Children Services will be notified and given all the information that was received.
9:47 a.m. — Dispatch received a call about people in the 200 block of North Zane Highway walking around a property taking pictures. Officers arrived and made contact with a female who was out of the vehicle and two people who were in a truck. All parties were identified. The female outside stated she works for a real estate investor who has bought numerous properties in the area “site unseen,” and she was going to them to take pictures and report back to the investor. The investor’s name was obtained. Officers cleared.
10:07 a.m. — A female came on station to speak with officers about a domestic issue she is having with her ex — boyfriend. She was advised what she needed to do.
10:23 a.m. — A caller on North 10th Street called dispatch to report a vehicle has been parked in front of their residence for months, has a flat tire and has not moved. Officers responded and spoke with the caller. The vehicle was chalked. Officers cleared.
10:35 a.m. — Officers were flagged down by a female about wanting her stepsister to leave because she was causing issues. She was advised what she needed to do. Officers cleared.
11:02 a.m. — Officers were called to assist with a Belmont County probation officer on Pearl Street. Contact was made, and it was handled. Officers cleared.
12:28 p.m. — Dispatch was called to the area of South Zane Highway and Jefferson Street about a male driving erratically. The caller stated the male does not have a driver’s license. Officers arrived to the area and checked multiple locations for the vehicle in question. No contact with this vehicle was made. Officers stayed in the area after in case it came through. Officers cleared.
12:47 p.m. — Officers made contact with the alleged driver of a complaint of a vehicle driving erratically. The male was identified and found to not have a valid driver’s license. It was explained to him what would happen if he is caught driving. Officers cleared.
1:25 p.m. — Dispatch received a call about a parking complaint in the 1400 block of North Seventh Street. Officers responded and made contact with a truck doing tree work in the area. Workers were cleaning up their job site and leaving. Officers cleared.
2:23 p.m. — Dispatch received a call to the Dollar Tree on South Zane Highway for a welfare check because the lights were on, an employee’s vehicle was in the parking lot, but the doors were locked. It was discovered this is because of a previous happening there earlier and the worker was checked on. Officers cleared.
2:25 p.m. — Dispatch received a call from a citizen concerned about an open door at an abandoned house on Hillcrest Drive. Officers arrived and had negative contact with anyone in the house but stated it looks as if someone has been cleaning inside. The door was secured the best that could be done. Officers cleared.
3:54 p.m. — A male called from Broadway Street to report he has been getting threatening phone calls and texts about doing physical harm to himself and his family. Officers arrived and spoke with the caller, who stated he did not want to file any charges at this time. Officers also spoke with the male sending the messages. Parties agreed not to file charges at this time but were advised if they change their mind to contact the PD. Officers cleared.
5:37 p.m. — Dispatch received a call for a welfare check done on North Third Street. The caller stated that she has not heard from him since last night and has had friends go to his residence and try and make contact with him with no contact being made. The concern is because of health issues. Officers arrived and made contact with this male. He explained he is having phone issues and that he is fine. Officers cleared.
6:23 p.m. — Dispatch received a call from another local police department wanting to speak with an officer about a case involving a male in Martins Ferry. An officer returned the call.
7:25 p.m. — Officers were called to an EMS call on Clay Street to assist with an intoxicated male. Officers assisted and cleared.
7:52 p.m. — Dispatch received a call about a possible overdose. EMS and officers arrived on scene. EMS handled this, and officers cleared.
9:43 p.m. — A male came to the police station to turn himself in for a warrant he has out of Belmont County. The male was identified and the warrant confirmed. Officers transported this male to Belmont County Jail.
11:35 p.m. — Dispatch received a call from a resident in the 500 block of North Zane Highway about a female in the residence that he wanted removed because she was screaming and yelling. Officers arrived and then requested EMS. EMS transported the female. Officers cleared.
