Wheeling police respond to attempted robbery at Gumby’s
Looking for suspect who displayed note asking for money
WHEELING — Wheeling police officers responded to an attempted robbery at Gumby’s on the 1000 block of National Road on Sunday evening.
Police were called at around 8:30 p.m. after a 911 call was made from the convenience store, according to a news release from the Wheeling Police Department.
A witness told police that a man walked into the business brandishing a note demanding money. He fled the area shortly after. There were no injuries, and the man did not display any weapons.
The suspect was described as a white man with glasses. At the time of the attempted robbery he was described as wearing a black jacket with a hood, green sweatpants and a blue scarf.
Police are investigating this incident and looking for the suspect.
