At 10:48 p.m. Tuesday, an officer was out assisting units from the Martins Ferry Police Department at McDonald’s on Hanover Street in Martins Ferry.

At 7:38 p.m. Tuesday, a sergeant on a traffic stop on Barton Road in St. Clairsville issued a warning to a motorist for driving with no headlights.

At 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported domestic trouble at an address in Lafferty. A female was reportedly fighting with someone, and a male could be heard in the background of the call denying that anything was going on, according to the report. The female stated the male tried to stab her in the throat with a piece of plastic, and the male was pushing the female around, the report stated, noting that information was taken.

At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a school resource officer from the Belmont-Harrison Career Center received an email regarding a student complaint that indicated it was not being handled. The email also included information about an alleged incident that occurred on a Bellaire school bus. That information was referred back to Bellaire and the school resource officer there.

At 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on national Road in Bridgeport near Big Lots issued a written warning to an Ohio motorist for speeding.

At 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on National Road at Union Street in Bridgeport issued a written warning to an Ohio motorist for speeding.

March 31

8:29 a.m. – A traffic stop was initiated near Dollar General on a male for a stop sign violation. Male was identified and given a warning for a stop sign violation.

8:35 a.m. – Officers were called to an incident at Martins Ferry High School regarding juveniles. Officers cleared.

10:28 a,m. – A male came on station to speak with officers in regards to his vehicle being impounded. Officers cleared.

10:32 a.m. – A female came on station to speak with an officer. Officer gave female advice. Officer cleared.

11:31 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of railroad crossing bars being down for an extended period of time and traffic lights not operating correctly in the area of Ohio 7 and Hanover Street. Railroad company and Ohio Department of Transportation were contacted. Officers cleared the scene when railroad crossings and traffic lights were operating.

12:56 p.m. – Officers responded to a call in the 600 Block of Dehass St reet about a neighbor who has a dog tied up outside with feces thrown all over the yard and it was causing a strong odor in the neighborhood. Officers spoke with the dog owner and the feces will be cleaned up. Officers gave the dog owner a warning.

12:59 p.m. – A traffic stop was initiated in the area of McDonald’s. Officers identified the female driver and male passenger. The male passenger did have an active warrant at the time of stop and was placed in custody. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle. Upon the search, a crystal-like substance was located in the glove box and later on was identified as methamphetamines. Charges were sent out on individuals. Officers cleared.

01:42 p.m. – Male came on station to speak with an officer. Officer cleared.

03:11 p.m. – Female came on station to have fingerprints done. Officers did fingerprints for female. Officers cleared.

3:33 p.m. – Dispatch received a call from a Detective with Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. Officers were sent to the 500 Block of Kuckuck Lane to speak with a male regarding the death of another individual and possibly any involvement. Male was brought to Martins Ferry Police Department to speak with the detective from Harrison County Sheriff’s Office due to the severity of what was said to Martins Ferry Police. Officers cleared.

04:51 p.m. – Female on station to speak with an officer in regards to an arrest that was made the week prior. Officers spoke with female. Officers cleared.

05:32 p.m. – A traffic stop was initiated in the area of Broadway Street and Monroe Street for obstruction. The driver was identified. Officers asked dispatch if any K-9 units were available in the county, however none were. Male was given a warning for obstructing view of license plate. Officers cleared.

5:53 p.m. – A traffic stop was initiated near the 1300 Block of Terrace Street for stop sign violation. The driver was identified. Male was given a warning for stop sign violation. Officer cleared.

6:16 p.m. – Officers were called to assist Martins Ferry Fire Department with a general fire alarm activation at East Ohio Regional Hospital.

7:40 p.m. – Officers responded to a burglar alarm activation on the 600 block of South First Street. Dispatch attempted contact with the keyholder on file from the alarm company, however there was no answer and a voicemail was left. Officers made entry to the building and cleared the building. There was negative contact with anyone inside. The building was secured. Officers cleared.

10:30 p.m. – A traffic stop was initiated in the area of South Zane Highway and Madison Street for no headlights. Driver was identified as a male. Male was given a warning for having no headlights on while driving. Officer cleared.

11:44 p.m. – Martins Ferry police assisted Ohio State Highway Patrol on a traffic stop in the area of Glenns Run.
