COLERAIN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed one person Wednesday night.

At around 11:15 p.m., 39-year-old Michael Paul of Martins Ferry was driving a 2008 BMW 335 series west on Belmont County Road 4, Colerain Pike, near U.S. 250, according to the patrol. Paul traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned the vehicle.

Paul sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Wheeling Hospital.

The passenger in the vehicle, 34-year-old Bethany Paul, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Colerain Fire Department and Barton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
