Lewisville Community Center to host annual carnival
LEWISVILLE — Lewisville Community Center will host its annual carnival on Saturday.
The event will feature live music, a car show, vendors, a baking contest, a parade, games and raffle drawings.
The car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the community center’s parking lot with registration starting at 9 a.m.
Carson Clouse, a singer/songwriter from Guernsey County, will perform from noon to 3 p.m., and Jessica Schoonover and Rick Tincher will perform traditional country music at 4 p.m. Attendees can bring their own lawn chairs.
Girl Scout Troop 1410 will be sponsoring a baking contest during the event. The contest will have an adult and a youth division and will have three categories: cakes, pies and cookies. Desserts must be dropped off at the community center between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Those who wish to enter the competition must pay an entry fee, and each person can enter up to three desserts. Desserts will be judged on overall appearance, flavor, consistency and originality.
The event will also feature classic carnival games including balloon toss, a duck pond game, archery and dime toss. Youth volunteers from local high schools and from Future Farmers of America will be running the games and selling tickets. The carnival will also have bounce houses for the children.
Cross Country Vendors, a nonprofit organization from Woodsfield, will host a vendor show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the quarter auction will begin at 1 p.m. The vendors will be set up in the gym.
The Lewisville Volunteer Fire Department will be serving chicken dinners at 4 p.m.
The parade will take place at 6 p.m. starting at Friendship Cemetery with lineup at 5:30 p.m. A frog jumping contest will take place after the parade. Those interested in participating in the frog jumping contest should provide their own frog, but the community center will have a few extras on hand. After the frog jumping contest, children can compete in relay races.
Raffle drawings will take place at 8:30 p.m.. Only 500 tickets will be available to purchase. The raffle will feature six main prizes. The first prize is a Savage .450 with a scope sponsored by Seebach Excavating. The second and third prizes are half of a hog from Headley Meats and were sponsored by C. Howell’s Farm and EDZ Construction. The fourth prize is an overnight stay in Berlin, Ohio, with a theater show sponsored by CR Towering Farms – Randy Smith Family. The fifth prize is a Chevy tailgate bench sponsored by EDZ Construction, and the sixth prize is $500 sponsored by the Lewisville Community Center.
