CADIZ — WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital and Harrison Community Hospital each received a grant from the South Central Power Foundation to assist with equipment upgrades.
Barnesville Hospital purchased two blanket warmers with the money. Warm blankets provide a sense of comfort to the patients receiving an infusion, having surgery or staying in the inpatient unit.
Harrison Community Hospital purchased two Puro ultraviolet disinfection lights for the operating room. The Puro UV Disinfection lights disinfect the operating room and post-anesthesia care unit, delivering disinfection from above. It emits broad spectrum UV light to eliminate up to 99.9 percent of the bacteria, viruses and fungi in the spaces.
“The equipment we were able to purchase through the South Central Foundation grants has been extremely beneficial for our patients,” Susan Redish, director of Nursing, said. “The blanket warmers help patients feel at ease when receiving services, and the UV lights provide an additional layer of disinfection to our operating room and post anesthesia care unit.”
“The South Central Power Company Foundation is excited to have this opportunity to play a role in advancing patient comfort and care in eastern Ohio,” said Don Jones, A Republican Ohio state representative and foundation board chairman.
