BELLAIRE — Bellaire Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 626 in Bellaire started off its Veterans Day week with a presentation of All-American hats.

On hand for the ceremony was VFW District 5 Commander Roy Campbell, who noted that the All-American Post designation for Post 626 was the first in the eight-county area or District 5 since 1982.

The All-American VFW program recognizes exceptional leadership, teamwork and authentic accomplishment in membership and core programs. Criteria includes 102% membership growth; full report submission; quarterly community service reports; Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Military Support Programs and other activities, including distribution of a minimum of 500 Buddy Poppies.

The extensive work to complete all paperwork and reporting requirements was spearheaded by immediate past post Commander Matt Fuller, who is now a district officer, and was continued by current Commander Joe La Port, along with Adjutant-Quartermaster Harold Carman.

The specially styled service caps of the All-American Post designation were presented to Post 626 members at the regular meeting in November.
