Semi-trailer and SUV collide east of the Ohio Valley Mall
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Nobody was injured when an SUV got underneath the back two tires of a semi-trailer Wednesday afternoon.
Cumberland Trail Fire District first responders were dispatched at 1:10 p.m. and arrived two minutes later at the scene near the Interstate 70/470 split just east of the Ohio Valley Mall at the 1 mile marker in the eastbound lanes.
Richland Township Police Department, Naylor Brothers Towing and the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted the Cumberland Trail Fire District.
An SUV traveling east somehow ended up underneath the rear wheels of the semi-trailer and was dragged quite a distance, according to Cumberland Trail Fire District Capt. Jeremy Rife. On responders arrival, both occupants of the SUV were out of the vehicle and walking around and refused transportation for medical, as did the tractor-trailer driver.
The last unit cleared the scene at 3 p.m. and the interstate reopened.
