$300,000 donated to St. C library

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The St. Clairsville Public Library received a $300,000 donation from the Mobley Family Trust.

The donation was made in memory of Russell G. Mobley, Mabel D. Mobley and Wilma Gay Mobley.

“The contribution underscores the Mobley family’s enduring commitment to education, community, and opportunity,” library Director Jo Papillo said.

The donation will advance the library’s mission as a hub for learning and engagement. A key initiative includes upgrading the library’s electronic technology to support and enhance a renovation project planned for 2025. The project aims to establish a community center for multipurpose programming, enhance accessibility for all patrons, expand its physical and digital collections and add many new features to enrich the library’s offerings.

“We are deeply grateful for the Mobley family’s extraordinary generosity,” Papillo said. “This gift will have a profound impact, allowing us to expand our services and better meet the needs of our community. The Mobley family’s commitment to education and opportunity is truly inspiring.”

Papillo added that the donation will leave a lasting legacy, benefiting generations of library users and reinforcing the library’s role as a cornerstone for connection and learning in the St. Clairsville community.
