WOODSFIELD — Kayleigh Dalrymple’s family is seeking donations through a GoFundMe effort after she died in a car accident Friday night.

Five other teenagers were riding in a Jeep along with 14-year-old Dalrymple when the driver lost control and struck a group of trees near the Marshall-Peoria County line in Chillicothe, Illinois, according to local news outlet 25News.

Dalrymple suffered injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead that evening at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. The other teenagers were treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to Marshall County (Illinois) Sheriff Wayne Strawn.

The goal for the GoFundMe stands at $7,500. The family is raising money for the funeral costs and the cost to get Dalrymple transported back to Ohio.

“That’s all we want is for her to come home,” Dalrymple’s aunt, Courtney Dalrymple Smathers, said.

People can also donate directly to Wilson Funeral Home in Beallsville instead of to the GoFundMe and to her mother Jessica Shrewsbury’s cash app, Jessshrews1.

Dalrymple was born in Ohio, grew up in Woodsfield and most of her family resides in the area, including her father, Michael Dalrymple. A few years ago, her mom moved to Illinois, and Kayleigh Dalrymple decided to follow and live with her mom and spend time with her for a little while, Smathers said. Kayleigh Dalrymple lived with her mom, grandma and two brothers in Chillicothe, but the rest of her family lives in Ohio.

A visitation will be held in Illinois for friends, but she will be transported to Ohio for services at Wilson Funeral Home in Beallsville. Smathers said the family is not sure about the details of the service yet in Ohio, but the service will be open for people to attend.

Smathers described her niece as a firecracker and said that she was always happy.

The family describes the teen on the GoFundMe page as beautiful, smart, funny, silly, caring and feisty. They said she could brighten anyone’s day no matter how bad it seems.

Smathers expressed how thankful Dalrymple’s family is for each and every person who has donated, sent condolences, prayed and been there for the family.

“She wasn’t afraid to tell anyone how it was and wasn’t one to back down,” they said. “There aren’t enough words to describe how precious she was to us all or how beautiful of a person she was inside and out! We love her so much, and our families will never be the same without her.”
